Dr. Chen Lu is a brilliant nuclear physicist who transformed himself into the supervillain Radioactive Man. Frustrated with working in the shadow of others, Lu exposed himself to dangerous levels of radiation during an experiment.
This exposure drastically altered his physiology, granting him superhuman strength, durability, and the ability to generate and manipulate radiation. His skin glows with a sickly green hue, a constant reminder of his transformation.
Radioactive Man first appeared in Journey into Mystery #93 (June 1963). He is depicted as a complex character, often driven by misguided ideals of national pride and a desire for recognition. He has often reformed.
Over the years, Radioactive Man has served as both an adversary and an ally to various Marvel heroes, including Thor and the Avengers.
