Chen Lu is a Chinese nuclear physicist who, through self-experimentation, transformed himself into Radioactive Man. Driven by a desire to become a superhuman to benefit China, Lu bombarded himself with radiation, granting him incredible powers.
Radioactive Man's abilities include superhuman strength, durability, and the power to emit and manipulate radiation. He can also project energy blasts and generate force fields. Initially a villain and enemy of Thor, Radioactive Man's allegiances have shifted over time.
His first appearance was in *Journey into Mystery* #93 (June 1963). He has been portrayed as both an antagonist and, on occasion, an ally to various heroes.
