Tron (purple) is a primary character in the animated series Tron: Uprising, a prequel to the 1982 film Tron and 2010's Tron: Legacy. He is voiced by Bruce Boxleitner, who also portrayed the character in the films.

In Uprising, Tron is a skilled and respected program within the Grid, serving as a protector and mentor. He witnesses the rise of Clu 2, leading to a rebellion. Tron secretly trains Beck, a young program, to become a new Tron in order to fight against Clu's oppressive regime.

While he maintains his commitment to justice and protecting the Grid, the events of Uprising leave him seriously injured, and his identity corrupted. He is taken to Clu's army, where he's reprogrammed as Rinzler.

Rinzler becomes Clu's ruthless enforcer, devoid of his memories of his time as Tron. He is formidable and deadly, blindly following Clu's orders. He serves as a prominent antagonist in Tron: Legacy.
