Oliver Queen, portrayed by Stephen Amell, is the central character of The CW's "Arrow," a television series set within the Arrowverse.
After being presumed dead for five years following a shipwreck, Oliver returns to Starling City (later Star City) a changed man. During his time away, he was stranded on the island of Lian Yu and other locations, where he learned survival skills and combat techniques.
Upon his return, Oliver adopts the persona of "The Hood," a vigilante determined to fight crime and corruption in his city. He uses his archery skills and martial arts prowess to take down those he believes are failing the city. He evolves over the course of the TV show.
The character first appeared in "Arrow" Season 1, Episode 1, which aired October 10, 2012. He is inspired by the DC Comics character Green Arrow.
