Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941.
Queen is a wealthy businessman and playboy who, after being stranded on a desert island, honed his archery skills to survive. Upon returning to civilization, he adopted the persona of Green Arrow to fight crime in Star City.
Green Arrow is typically depicted as a vigilante archer who uses trick arrows with various special functions, such as grappling hooks, explosives, and nets. He is also known for his strong sense of social justice and his outspoken political views, often clashing with other superheroes.
Although typically a comic character, Green Arrow has gained prominence and popularity on television with the CW Arrowverse show *Arrow* starring Stephen Amell.
