Kaine Parker, also known as the Scarlet Spider, is a complex character in the Marvel Universe, initially portrayed as a villain. He is the first and most unstable clone of Peter Parker (Spider-Man), created by the Jackal (Professor Miles Warren).
Due to the flawed cloning process, Kaine suffers from cellular degeneration, granting him enhanced strength and speed exceeding Spider-Man's, but also causing physical deformities and a scarred appearance. He also possesses a unique "Mark of Kaine," a burning touch that leaves behind skeletal impressions.
