Bishop, also known as Lucas Bishop, is a mutant from a dystopian future in Marvel's X-Men universe. He first appeared in *Uncanny X-Men* #282 (November 1991).
Born in a mutant concentration camp, Bishop was branded with an "M" and developed a deep respect for the X-Men, whom he heard tales of as heroes. He eventually traveled to the past, hoping to join their ranks and prevent his grim future.
Bishop possesses the mutant ability to absorb and redirect energy. He can channel energy attacks into powerful blasts, making him a formidable opponent. His initial distrust of Gambit, whom he believed would betray the X-Men, formed a major storyline.
