Rory Williams, later Rory Pond, is a fictional character in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. He is introduced as Amy Pond's long-time boyfriend in the fifth series and becomes a companion to the Eleventh Doctor.

Initially a somewhat unassuming nurse from Leadworth, England, Rory's dedication to Amy is a defining characteristic. He is portrayed as fiercely loyal and protective, sometimes to a fault. His love for Amy is tested repeatedly throughout their travels with the Doctor.

Rory undergoes significant character development throughout his tenure. He experiences death and resurrection multiple times, famously spending nearly 2000 years as a Roman centurion guarding Amy while she is imprisoned in the Pandorica. This experience hardens him, revealing a strength and resourcefulness previously unseen.

Ultimately, Rory marries Amy and together they continue to travel with the Doctor. They are eventually written out of the series in "The Angels Take Manhattan" after being permanently displaced in time by the Weeping Angels, living out their lives together in the past.
