The Royal Guard, also known as the Emperor's Royal Guard, are an elite unit tasked with the protection of Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars universe. They are visually striking, clad head-to-toe in crimson robes and helmets that obscure their faces.
Their first major appearance was in *Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi* (1983), where they are constantly seen flanking the Emperor. The identity of the individuals beneath the armor remained largely a mystery within the film canon, further contributing to their enigmatic and imposing presence.
