Sub-Zero is a prominent character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise. There have been two primary characters taking on the mantle of Sub-Zero.
The first Sub-Zero, Bi-Han, debuted in the original Mortal Kombat (1992). He is an assassin from the Lin Kuei clan, possessing cryomancy, which grants him the ability to control ice. He is known for his stoic and ruthless demeanor.
Following Bi-Han's death, his younger brother Kuai Liang assumes the Sub-Zero identity, first appearing as such in Mortal Kombat II. He seeks to avenge his brother and continues the fight against evil forces, eventually becoming a Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and a protector of Earthrealm.
