Ashley Joanna "Ash" Williams is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Evil Dead franchise, created by Sam Raimi. He is portrayed by Bruce Campbell across the film series and the television series Ash vs Evil Dead.

Initially depicted as a somewhat hapless S-Mart employee, Ash's character evolves from a terrified survivor to a wisecracking, chainsaw-wielding hero. The original film, The Evil Dead, shows him vacationing with friends when they unwittingly unleash demonic forces. Subsequent films and the TV series showcase his battles against the Deadites, often armed with his iconic chainsaw hand and "boomstick" (a sawed-off shotgun).

Despite his bravado, Ash is often portrayed as flawed and reluctant, frequently making mistakes that exacerbate his situation.
