Toxin is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics, primarily in the Earth-616 continuity. He is a Symbiote, the thousandth Symbiote in the lineage that includes Venom and Carnage.
Toxin's first appearance was in *Venom/Carnage* #1 (2004). Unlike his predecessors who are often villains, Toxin's host, Patrick Mulligan, attempts to use his powers for good, struggling with the Symbiote's violent urges.
Patrick Mulligan, a New York City police officer, became bonded with the Toxin Symbiote after Carnage forcibly spawned it. Initially, Mulligan tried to keep the Symbiote under control, attempting to live a normal life. However, the Symbiote's aggressive nature often led to conflict. Eventually, Eddie Brock became the new host, with the Symbiote manipulated to serve darker purposes.
