Hoshigaki Kisame, first appearing in Naruto Shippuden episode 8, is a prominent antagonist and member of the Akatsuki organization. He is known as the "Monster of the Hidden Mist" due to his immense chakra reserves and his origins in the Bloody Mist Village.

Kisame's distinguishing feature is his shark-like appearance, with pale blue skin, sharp teeth, and gills on his shoulders. He wields Samehada, a sentient sword that consumes chakra rather than cutting.

Initially a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kisame was tasked with protecting intelligence. He eventually learned his superior was leaking information, leading him to kill the superior and take the Samehada sword. This act led to his defection and subsequent alliance with Akatsuki, where he partnered with Itachi Uchiha. He remained loyal to the Akatsuki's goals and died by suicide to protect its secrets.
