Captain Britain, also known as Brian Braddock, first appeared in Captain Britain Weekly #1 in 1976.
He gained his powers from Merlyn and Roma of Otherworld, who tasked him with upholding the laws of the mystical realm and safeguarding Britain. Upon accepting the Amulet of Right and Sword of Might - though he ultimately chose the amulet - Braddock was transformed into Captain Britain, endowed with superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to fly.
