Deathlok, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is not a single individual but rather a codename given to multiple cyborgs created through Project Deathlok.
The first and most prominent Deathlok is Mike Peterson, portrayed by J. August Richards. Peterson, initially a single father and unemployed civilian, is recruited by Project Centipede and granted superhuman strength and durability through experimentation with Extremis and a modified version of the Centipede serum.
Severely injured and presumed dead after an explosion, Peterson is resurrected and further augmented by Project Deathlok, becoming a heavily armored cyborg controlled by remote commands. He is initially manipulated by Hydra, acting as a reluctant assassin.
Over time, Peterson regains control of his body and works to redeem himself, ultimately becoming an ally to S.H.I.E.L.D. He continues to operate as Deathlok, using his enhanced abilities to fight against threats to humanity, often struggling with the psychological and emotional toll of his transformation.
