Biography:

Buzz Lightyear is a central character in Pixar's *Toy Story* franchise, first appearing in the original *Toy Story* film. He's a space ranger action figure, initially convinced he is a real astronaut on a mission.

Buzz hails from Star Command and believes himself to be on a solo mission to defeat Emperor Zurg. This delusion clashes with reality as he is, in fact, a mass-produced toy. This creates conflict and ultimately friendship with Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll.

Throughout the *Toy Story* films, Buzz's character evolves. He grapples with his identity as a toy, embracing his role in Andy's life and later Bonnie's. In *Toy Story 4*, Buzz faces an existential crisis, struggling to understand his "inner voice" and purpose outside of a child's play.
