Killer Klowns are the eponymous antagonists of the 1988 science fiction horror comedy film, Killer Klowns from Outer Space. They are a race of malevolent extraterrestrial beings who resemble circus clowns.
These Klowns arrive on Earth in a circus tent-shaped spaceship, intent on harvesting humans for consumption. They use clown-themed weaponry and traps, such as popcorn guns, shadow puppets that can devour victims, and cotton candy cocoons, to capture and liquefy their prey.
While primarily featured in the film, the Killer Klowns have achieved cult status, leading to appearances in other media. They were planned to appear in the licensed video game, Terrordrome, but this was cancelled. They later appeared in the game, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, released in 2024.
Individually, the Klowns are largely indistinguishable, identified primarily by their unique clown makeup and attire. Their motivations are purely predatory, driven by a desire to consume humans in grotesque and humorous ways, cementing their place as iconic figures in horror comedy.
