Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty, is the titular protagonist of Disney's 1959 animated feature film, *Sleeping Beauty*.
Born to King Stefan and Queen Leah, Aurora is cursed at birth by the evil fairy Maleficent. The curse dictates that she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel before sunset on her sixteenth birthday and die.
To protect her, three good fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, disguise themselves as peasant women and raise her in secret as Briar Rose. Despite their efforts, Maleficent's curse comes to fruition.
Ultimately, Prince Phillip, whom Aurora meets in the forest and falls in love with, defeats Maleficent and awakens Aurora with a kiss, breaking the curse.
