Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, is a key character in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Born to Meredith Quill and Ego, a Celestial being, Peter was abducted from Earth shortly after his mother's death in 1988.
He was raised by the Ravagers, a group of intergalactic thieves and smugglers led by Yondu Udonta. This upbringing shaped him into a resourceful and roguish figure with a penchant for adventure and a love for 1980s Earth culture, often expressed through his music.
Quill eventually forges his own path, becoming Star-Lord and leading the Guardians of the Galaxy. This unlikely team of outlaws, including Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot, become protectors of the galaxy, facing cosmic threats and dealing with Quill's complex past.
