Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is a primary antagonist in the Star Wars saga.

He is a powerful Sith Lord who orchestrates the downfall of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. Palpatine manipulates political events, playing both sides of conflicts to consolidate his power.

He appears in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in a holographic transmission as the Emperor, but his physical presence and manipulations are fully revealed in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and the prequel trilogy. Palpatine is a master of the dark side of the Force, possessing immense power and cunning intelligence.
