Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is a central antagonist in the Star Wars saga. His first appearance in the original trilogy was in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, portrayed then by Marjorie Eaton and voiced by Clive Revill.

Born on Naboo, Palpatine masked his dark side intentions while rising through the ranks of the Galactic Republic. He served as a Senator, later becoming Supreme Chancellor through political maneuvering. Secretly, he was Darth Sidious, a powerful Sith Lord plotting to overthrow the Republic and establish a galactic empire.

Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars, manipulating both sides to weaken the Republic and consolidate power. He then framed the Jedi Order as traitors, ordering their extermination in the infamous Order 66.

With the Republic shattered, Palpatine declared himself Emperor, ruling with an iron fist through the Galactic Empire. A master of the dark side of the Force, he trained Darth Vader as his apprentice and sought to crush the Rebel Alliance. In the animated series The Freemaker Adventures, his schemes and influence are present, even in a lighter, more comedic tone.
