Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is a central antagonist in the *Star Wars* saga. He is a powerful Sith Lord and the mastermind behind the fall of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire.
Palpatine's first appearance on screen was in *Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back* (1980), though he was portrayed via hologram. His face was first shown in *Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi* (1983) played by Ian McDiarmid.
As a master manipulator, Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars to weaken the Republic, ultimately transforming it into an authoritarian regime under his rule. He corrupted Anakin Skywalker, turning him into Darth Vader, his apprentice and enforcer.
Palpatine's ultimate goal was to achieve immortality and absolute power over the galaxy, often using the dark side of the Force. In LEGO form, he is often depicted in his dark robes and with his distinctive wrinkled face, representing his sinister role in the *Star Wars* universe.
