Grogu, often referred to as "The Child" or colloquially as "Baby Yoda," is a character introduced in the Disney+ TV show The Mandalorian. He first appeared in the show's debut episode in 2019.
Grogu is a Force-sensitive being of the same species as Jedi Grand Master Yoda. Found at approximately 50 years old, he is not a baby in human terms, but is young for his species.
He becomes a ward of the Mandalorian bounty hunter, Din Djarin, who protects him from the remnants of the fallen Galactic Empire, particularly Moff Gideon, who seeks Grogu for his blood's Force capabilities. Grogu eventually trains with Luke Skywalker to develop his Force abilities before ultimately returning to Din Djarin.
