Biography:
Harvey Dent, formerly Gotham City's young and charismatic District Attorney, is the tragic figure known as Two-Face. His origin is deeply rooted in his dedication to justice and his close alliance with Batman and Commissioner Gordon.
Dent relentlessly fought organized crime, earning the nickname "White Knight" for his incorruptible integrity. However, his unwavering pursuit of justice made him a target. Sal Maroni, a powerful mob boss, threw acid at Dent during a courtroom trial.
The acid severely scarred the left side of Dent's face, both physically and psychologically. The disfigurement shattered his psyche, exacerbating a pre-existing (often retconned as latent) mental instability. He became convinced the world was governed by chance and abandoned his ideals.
Taking on the moniker Two-Face, he embraced duality and makes life-altering decisions by flipping a scarred two-headed silver dollar. One side is pristine, representing his former self, while the other is defaced, reflecting his current state. Depending on the coin's result, he acts with benevolence or cruelty, embodying the concept of good and evil forever battling within him. His criminal actions are often related to themes of duality and justice turned on its head.
