The Roman Soldier is a recurring, generic character in the Asterix comic book series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.
Rather than a single, named individual, Roman Soldiers represent the legions of the Roman Empire, perpetually tasked with attempting to subdue the Gaulish village where Asterix and Obelix reside. They are usually portrayed as being somewhat incompetent and easily defeated by the Gauls' magic potion.
