Mole Man, whose real name is Harvey Elder, first appeared in Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961). He is a Marvel Comics character.
Elder was an explorer and geologist who became ostracized due to his eccentric theories and diminutive stature. His fascination with the Hollow Earth theory led him to discover a vast subterranean world filled with monsters.
Exposure to the strange energies of this underground realm altered his appearance, causing him to lose his eyesight but granting him enhanced senses and the ability to perceive in the dark. He became the ruler of the Subterraneans, a race of humanoids who live beneath the Earth's surface.
