Betsy Braddock, known as Psylocke, is a character from Marvel Comics' X-Men series. She first appeared as Betsy Braddock in Captain Britain #8 (December 1976) and debuted as Psylocke in New Mutants #57 (November 1987).
Originally introduced as a supporting character in her brother Brian Braddock's (Captain Britain) adventures, Betsy possessed psychic abilities, including telepathy, precognition, and telekinesis.
A major turning point came when her mind was merged with that of a Japanese ninja assassin named Kwannon. This resulted in Betsy's consciousness inhabiting Kwannon's body, granting her enhanced martial arts skills and ninja training, as well as a new physical appearance. She took on the mantle of Psylocke and became a prominent member of the X-Men, utilizing her psychic and physical abilities in their battles.
