Black Lantern Hal Jordan is a resurrected version of the Green Lantern Hal Jordan, animated and controlled by the Black Lantern Power Battery during the Blackest Night event in DC Comics. This undead Hal Jordan serves Nekron, the embodiment of death, and is devoid of compassion and remorse.
He targets living beings with emotional connections to him, using their emotional energy to strengthen the Black Lantern Corps and bring about the end of all life. His presence causes intense fear and despair in those who knew him when he was alive. He exploits memories and feelings, weaponizing grief and guilt against his former allies, like Green Lanterns and members of the Justice League.
As a Black Lantern, he retains fragmented memories of his life but lacks any true connection to them. He manipulates these memories to torment his targets. His Black Lantern ring grants him powers similar to his Green Lantern abilities, but fueled by death energy. He is ultimately defeated when the emotional spectrum is focused against the Black Lantern Corps, severing his connection to the Black Lantern ring and causing his body to crumble.
