Evangelion Unit-01, also known as EVA-01 or Shogōki, is a central mecha character in the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is a bio-machine created by NERV to combat the Angels, monstrous beings threatening humanity.
EVA-01's first appearance is in the first episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, titled "Angel Attack". It is uniquely linked to Shinji Ikari, the Third Child, who is often the designated pilot. Its distinctive purple and green color scheme sets it apart from the other Evangelion units.
