Gamora, as portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a complex and formidable character first appearing in the Movie *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014). Adopted by Thanos after he decimated her home planet and species, she was raised as a deadly assassin, trained alongside Nebula.
Initially serving Thanos, Gamora eventually defies him, seeking to prevent him from obtaining the Infinity Stones. This decision places her in direct conflict with her adoptive father, making her a target and leading her to join the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In *Avengers: Infinity War*, Gamora's past catches up with her. Thanos sacrifices her to obtain the Soul Stone, resulting in her death. A version of Gamora from an alternate timeline appears later in the MCU after the events of *Avengers: Endgame*. The character is a core member of the Guardians of the Galaxy throughout her appearances.
