General Grievous, a prominent figure in the Star Wars saga, first appeared in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated TV Show (2003) as a fearsome Kaleesh warrior.
Originally a skilled military strategist named Qymaen jai Sheelal, he hailed from the planet Kalee. Grievous resented the Republic's support for the Huks, who were in conflict with his people. After a shuttle crash orchestrated by Count Dooku severely injured him, Grievous was rebuilt as a cyborg.
He became the Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Army. Known for his distinctive rasping voice and four lightsabers he stole from Jedi he killed, Grievous was a formidable opponent to the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars. Despite his combat prowess, Grievous was often portrayed as a cowardly character, prone to fleeing when facing overwhelming odds or superior Jedi Masters. He was eventually killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
