Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody is a prominent character in the Harry Potter series. A renowned Auror, known for his paranoia and vigilance against the Dark Arts, he appears in *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire*.
However, the Mad-Eye Moody encountered in the fourth book is revealed to be an imposter. Barty Crouch Jr., a Death Eater, uses Polyjuice Potion to impersonate Moody throughout the school year. He keeps the real Moody captive and steals his identity to manipulate events surrounding the Triwizard Tournament.
