Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, portrayed by Brendan Gleeson, first appears in the film *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire*.
He is initially introduced as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. He is a renowned and highly skilled Auror, famous for his paranoia and vigilance, hence the nickname "Mad-Eye." He has a prosthetic eye that can see through walls and even the back of his head.
However, it is revealed that the Moody teaching at Hogwarts is actually Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise, using Polyjuice Potion to impersonate him as part of Voldemort's plan. The real Alastor Moody is discovered imprisoned in a trunk.
The true Mad-Eye Moody reappears as a member of the Order of the Phoenix, dedicated to fighting against Voldemort. He is eventually killed during the Battle of the Seven Potters in *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1*.
