Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody is a prominent Auror in the Harry Potter universe, known for his paranoia and vigilance against the Dark Arts.
His first appearance is in *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire*, where he is introduced as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. However, this is quickly revealed to be an imposter, Barty Crouch Jr., using Polyjuice Potion.
The real Mad-Eye Moody is a seasoned fighter, scarred and missing an eye (replaced by a magical prosthetic that can see through walls), and part of a leg. His gruff demeanor and constant vigilance make him a formidable, if somewhat unsettling, ally to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
While impersonated for most of *Goblet of Fire*, the real Moody is eventually freed and continues to fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters until his tragic death in *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows*.
