Biography:
James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, as portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), first appeared in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
A close friend of Steve Rogers since childhood, Bucky enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting alongside Captain America as part of the Howling Commandos. He was presumed dead after falling from a train during a mission.
However, Bucky was recovered and brainwashed by HYDRA, becoming their super-soldier assassin known as the Winter Soldier. He was subjected to experimentation and given a metal arm, enhancing his strength and combat abilities. The Winter Soldier operated for decades, carrying out assassinations and destabilizing governments.
In the MCU, Bucky eventually regained his memories and began seeking redemption. He fought alongside the Avengers against Thanos in Infinity War before briefly disappearing and reappearing in later conflicts.
