Bart Allen, also known as Impulse, is a superhero within the DC Universe. He is the grandson of Barry Allen, the second Flash, and Iris West Allen. Born in the future, Bart possesses a hyper-accelerated metabolism, causing him to age rapidly and experience a constant need for speed.
Originally, his rapid aging threatened his health, leading Iris West to bring him to the present, where Wally West, the then-current Flash, helped stabilize his powers. This process also gave Bart control over his accelerated metabolism.
Impulse is known for his impulsive nature (as his name suggests), energetic personality, and tendency to act before thinking. He has been a member of Young Justice, the Teen Titans, and, later in his timeline, even briefly adopted the mantle of the Flash after the death of Barry Allen.
Bart Allen's first appearance as Impulse was in *The Flash* Vol. 2 #91 (June 1994).
