Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is a video game character created by Capcom. He first appeared in the original Mega Man game for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987.

Originally a lab assistant robot named Rock, he volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot to combat the evil Dr. Wily and his army of Robot Masters. After being modified by Dr. Light, Rock was given a powerful arm cannon and transformed into Mega Man.

Mega Man's signature ability is to copy the weapons and abilities of the Robot Masters he defeats, making him adaptable to various combat situations. He is often portrayed as a determined and heroic figure dedicated to protecting humanity from Dr. Wily's schemes.
