Lando Calrissian, specifically as seen in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, is a charismatic gambler and smuggler who runs Cloud City on the gas planet Bespin. He first appears in this film, part of the Original Trilogy.
Lando, an old friend of Han Solo, initially welcomes Leia, Chewbacca, and Luke (via vision) to Cloud City. However, he is forced to betray them to Darth Vader in order to protect the citizens of his city.
Regretting his decision, Lando ultimately redeems himself by helping Leia, Chewbacca, and Luke's friend, R2-D2, escape. He then joins the Rebel Alliance and becomes a General, playing a pivotal role in the fight against the Empire.
