Prince Adam is the alter ego of He-Man, the powerful defender of Eternia. He is presented as the somewhat clumsy and seemingly unathletic son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, the rulers of Eternia.
His outward persona serves as a disguise, concealing his true identity as He-Man from most, including his own parents. This deception is maintained to protect them and the kingdom from the knowledge of his powers and the dangers he faces.
When danger threatens Eternia, Adam raises his Power Sword and proclaims, "By the power of Grayskull! I have the power!" This transforms him into the muscular and heroic He-Man, imbued with immense strength, speed, and durability.
As He-Man, he fights against the evil Skeletor and his forces to protect Eternia and Castle Grayskull, the source of his power. The character's dual identity explores themes of responsibility, deception for a greater good, and the power that lies hidden within.
