Prince Adam is the alter ego of He-Man, the central hero of the *Masters of the Universe* franchise. He first appeared in the Filmation cartoon *He-Man and the Masters of the Universe* in 1983.
By outward appearance, Adam is a seemingly lazy and somewhat inept prince of Eternia, son of King Randor and Queen Marlena. This facade is a carefully constructed act to conceal his true identity.
When danger threatens Eternia, Adam raises his Power Sword and proclaims "By the Power of Grayskull! I have the Power!" Transforming into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, he defends his home from the evil Skeletor and his forces.
