Usagi Tsukino, better known as Sailor Moon, is the central protagonist of the *Sailor Moon* anime series. She first appeared in the inaugural episode, "The Crybaby: Usagi's Magnificent Transformation," of the original anime adaptation in 1992.

Usagi begins as a seemingly ordinary, albeit clumsy and crybabyish, junior high school student. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she encounters a talking black cat named Luna, who reveals Usagi's destiny as Sailor Moon, a magical warrior tasked with protecting Earth from evil.

Throughout the series, Usagi develops into a brave and powerful leader, fighting alongside her fellow Sailor Guardians. She discovers her past life as Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and her destined love with Prince Endymion of Earth. Her journey is one of self-discovery, love, and the ongoing battle between good and evil.
