Gamora, portrayed by Zoe Saldana in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a complex character first appearing in *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014). Thanos, seeking to dominate the universe, invaded her home planet and killed her parents. Gamora was adopted and trained as a deadly assassin, becoming a formidable warrior in Thanos' service.

Driven by a growing conscience, Gamora eventually rebelled against Thanos and joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. She sought to atone for her past actions by protecting innocent lives and preventing Thanos from acquiring the Infinity Stones.

Her knowledge of the Stones and her history with Thanos made her a crucial ally to the Avengers. However, in *Infinity War*, Thanos sacrificed Gamora to obtain the Soul Stone, leading to her tragic demise. A past version of Gamora from an alternate timeline then appeared, altering the team's dynamic significantly.
