Biography:

Han Solo, a pivotal character in the Star Wars Original Trilogy, first appeared in *Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope* (1977). In *Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back*, he is a seasoned smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon.

Initially motivated by self-interest and financial gain, Solo is drawn into the Rebel Alliance's fight against the Galactic Empire. He displays a cynical exterior but possesses a strong moral compass and a growing commitment to his friends, including Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.

In *The Empire Strikes Back*, Solo's relationship with Leia develops significantly. He is eventually captured by Darth Vader and turned over to the bounty hunter Boba Fett, setting the stage for his rescue in *Return of the Jedi*.
