Jawas are diminutive, hooded scavengers native to the desert planet Tatooine, first appearing in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977). Part of the Original Trilogy, they are known for their distinctive glowing yellow eyes peering from beneath coarse brown robes.

These creatures roam the deserts in large, heavily modified vehicles called sandcrawlers, searching for discarded or broken-down technology. They collect and repair these items, then sell them to settlers and moisture farmers.

Jawas speak a guttural, high-pitched language, often accompanied by electronic sounds. They have a reputation for being opportunistic and sometimes dishonest in their dealings.
