Jervis Tetch, better known as the Mad Hatter, is a recurring villain in the DC Universe, primarily associated with Batman. He first appeared in Batman #49 (October 1948). While the comics offer various interpretations, the character also appeared in live action and animation.
In most depictions, Tetch is portrayed as a brilliant but deeply disturbed scientist obsessed with Lewis Carroll's *Alice's Adventures in Wonderland*.
