Jessica Jones is a fictional character appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Netflix television series of the same name, Jessica Jones.

Portrayed by Krysten Ritter, Jessica is a former superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. After a traumatic experience with Kilgrave, who used mind control to manipulate her, she abandons her superhero life and opens Alias Investigations, a private detective agency in New York City.

The Netflix series Jessica Jones, which premiered in 2015, marks her first screen appearance in the MCU. The character also appears in the crossover series The Defenders.
