Jewel is a superhero identity adopted by Jessica Jones in Marvel Comics.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, she first appeared as Jewel in Alias #1 (November, 2001). After a traumatic experience involving the Purple Man, she abandoned the Jewel persona due to the trauma she underwent and she later became a private investigator.
Her powers include enhanced strength, flight, and durability. Though she later disavowed her superhero past, the Jewel identity remains a significant part of her history and is sometimes referenced in her later appearances as a way to acknowledge her past as a superheroine.
