Ken Masters, often simply called Ken, is a prominent character in the Street Fighter franchise. He is Ryu's lifelong friend and rival, known for his flashy and aggressive fighting style. Ken's signature moves include the Shoryuken (Dragon Punch) and Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku (Hurricane Kick), mirroring Ryu's own, but with a more flamboyant execution.

Ken first appeared in the original Street Fighter game in 1987 as the second player character. Unlike Ryu, who dedicates himself to the solitary pursuit of martial arts mastery, Ken is portrayed as a more outgoing and wealthy individual. He eventually marries Eliza, with whom he has a son named Mel.

Throughout the series, Ken balances his personal life with his continued training and participation in fighting tournaments. He frequently serves as a contrast to Ryu's stoicism, providing a more lighthearted and competitive foil to his friend's dedicated discipline.
