Ashley Joanna "Ash" Williams is a character primarily known from the Evil Dead franchise. He first appeared in the 1981 film, The Evil Dead. Initially a simple S-Mart employee, Ash's life takes a horrific turn when he and his friends unwittingly unleash demonic forces from the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.

Over the course of the film series – including Evil Dead 2 (1987), Army of Darkness (1992), and the Ash vs Evil Dead TV show (2015-2018) – Ash evolves from a terrified survivor into a chainsaw-wielding, boomstick-toting anti-hero. Portrayed by Bruce Campbell, Ash is known for his over-the-top personality, sarcastic humor, and constant battles against the Deadites.

Despite his often ineptitude, Ash consistently finds himself as humanity's unlikely savior, battling evil through sheer luck and a surprising amount of resourcefulness. His iconic chainsaw hand and Winchester rifle have become synonymous with the horror-comedy genre, solidifying his place as a cult film icon.
