Sandman, also known as Flint Marko, is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. He debuted in *The Amazing Spider-Man* #4 in 1963. He is a primarily an adversary of Spider-Man although he has had a complex relationship with the hero over the years.
Marko gained his powers after being exposed to irradiated sand, which fused with his body, granting him the ability to transform into and control sand. He can alter his shape, density, and size, making him a formidable opponent.
He is commonly depicted as a criminal but has at times demonstrated heroic qualities, joining teams such as the Outlaws and even briefly the Avengers. His motivations often stem from a desire to provide for his estranged daughter, Penny.
